Stainless Steel Wool

High-temperature blow-out protection in exhaust systems

With security for durability

The stainless steel wool products of DBW Advanced Fiber Technologies work in exhaust systems as compensation elements e.g. in perforated areas of tubes and baffles. The choice of the right quality decides for the durability of the acoustic system as separate applied product or in combination with mineral fibers or textile glass fibers (e.g. biosil® and powertex®).

DBW Advanced Fiber Technologies offers a wide product portfolio produced of high-temperature resistant stainless steel wool qualities 1.4113, 1.4841. Of course, our steel wool is recyclable.

Product advantages

  • wide product portfolio
  • high- and highest temperature resistance
  • product range according requirements
  • recyclable
  • manufacturable

Stainelss steel wool - Areas of application and advantages

The choice of suitable stainless steel wool quality is crucial for the longevity of the gas flue system. DBW Advanced Fiber Technologies offers a wide range of products made of high-temperature resistant stainless steel wool grades such as 1.4113 and 1.4841. These materials are fully recyclable and can be used both as stand-alone products and in combination with mineral fibers or textile glass fibers such as biosil® and powertex®.

Technical properties

Stainless steel wool grade 1.4841 is characterized by the following technical properties:

  • Maximum application temperature: 1100 °C
  • Oxidation rate: ≤ 3.0 % (after 100 hours at 1100 °C)
  • Fiber length in the strand: infinite, approx. 10 % < 0.2 m
  • Geometry of the fibers: irregular
  • Specific density: 7.8 g/cm³

These properties make the stainless steel wool particularly suitable for use in high-temperature areas of gas flue systems.

Applications of stainless steel wool in the automotive and industrial sectors

Stainless steel wool is a versatile and high-performance material that is characterized by its high temperature and corrosion resistance. It is used in a wide range of applications in the automotive and industrial sectors:

Automotive sector

  • Silencer filling: Stainless steel wool is used in vehicle silencers to efficiently dampen noise and withstand extreme temperatures.
  • Exhaust systems: As blow-out protection, stainless steel wool prevents the leakage of packaging materials and helps to optimize sound.
  • Heat protection insulation: Thanks to its thermal stability, stainless steel wool is used for insulation in areas close to the engine to effectively dissipate heat and protect adjacent components.

Industrial applications

  • Filter material: Stainless steel wool is ideal for filtering gases, liquids, humid air and exhaust gases in a wide range of industrial applications.
  • Sound absorption: Stainless steel wool is used in industrial plants to reduce noise, for example in power plants and aircraft or ship engines.
  • High-temperature insulation: This is used as thermal insulation for pipes, containers and turbines and can withstand extreme temperatures.
  • Reinforcement fibers: stainless steel wool reinforces materials such as heavy concrete or plastics, improving their strength.
  • Cleaning: in sensitive areas such as the food industry or in glass cleaning processes, stainless steel wool is an effective cleaning material without any risk of rusting.

The versatility and performance of stainless steel wool make it an indispensable material in the automotive and industrial sectors. Discover the advantages and wide range of applications in your area!

Combination with other materials

Stainless steel wool can be combined with other materials for optimum results:

  • biosil®: A biosoluble mineral wool that sustainably improves the sound-absorbing properties of exhaust systems. biosil® is harmless to health and bears the RAL quality mark.
  • powertex®: A textile glass fiber with high temperature resistance and excellent sound absorption, which makes an important contribution to the noise protection concept of modern vehicles.

The combination of these materials with stainless steel wool enables customized solutions for specific requirements in exhaust systems and other industrial applications.

Environmental friendliness and recycling

Another advantage of our stainless steel wool is its complete recyclability. This contributes to the sustainability and environmental friendliness of the products and helps companies to achieve their ecological goals.
